You’ve Got The Tools! Now Use Them

So, I’m sitting at work freezing! Everyone else seems to be just fine. My office is in the back and I promise I have the coldest spot in here. I’ve attempted to sneak and change the thermostat a few times to warm this place up but every time I start getting comfortable temperature wise, I get out voted by everyone else. (Honestly, I should have just invested in a personal space heater…any who). Rubbing my hands together, I get up to go and heat my lunch up and I look on the back of my chair; there’s a long, warm sweater that has been chair decoration for the last few months. Ha! With the weather change back and forth, this trusty sweater has been sitting here all along just waiting to be put to use, and all the while I have been complaining about how cold it is in my area…Sigh.  I kinda chuckled to myself, as I started to pull this thick warm sweater up each arm, embracing the warmth and putting it to use, I smiled thinking, “Darn B, what you needed was right in your face this whole time!”

In comparison, I think of how God must sit back and chuckle at us when we throw our hands up screaming, “God I need this! God I need that!” If we take a moment to look around us, God provides the resources, the connections and the tools we need; we just expect it to magically appear exactly where we want it.  I mean, think about it. Social media for one is an awesome tool to assist in meeting needs, have you taken a moment to reach out to your resources there? When you attend networking events, do you actually follow-up and use the business cards you collected or are they stored up in a corner somewhere not being put to good use? See the thing is, God is a provider, yes that’s true indeed, but faith without works is dead! It would have cut my complaining session down and saved my poor body the agony of going through the chill spells had I actually looked for another solution. My mind was fixated on one solution, turning the heat up to suit my needs, not realizing that what I needed was right in front of my eyes.

Think about it, we pray for a house, and surrounding us are the resources and connections we need to get our credit on track to be able to get approved for that house; however we are looking for the finished product. Understand, God is not an enabler, well not the God that I know lol God wants us to put our minds to work and our hands as well. So the next time you’re looking up for that blessing to fall out of the sky, try looking around you to see how you can put some action into helping that blessing manifest!
